Includes over three hundred printed questionnaires, apparently filled out by agents of H.H. Bancroft with information supplied by California settlers involved in agriculture or related industries. Responses to questions on printed side of form are chiefly statistical; verso of form usually contains a brief biography of interviewee. Box 4 contains more completed questionnaire forms, usually without biographical information; some of these are captioned "Statistics of California Industries."

Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area. He is descended from the Thatchers of Uffington, England, the same family as Denis Thatcher, husband of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. From the description of H.H.
